need strategy guidance

I am a B.Tech mechanical engg Ist year student of BSA college of engg & tech, mathura.I choose mechanical as i always wanted to work in brahmos,tata advanced materials ltd. , ordinance industries, l&t core engg , ISRO etc. but my college is not that good enough hence i could not hope for on campus placement in these companies.Please tell me what strategy should I follow to increase my chances for getting into these.

Given u are just in u'r first year ... you must believe u have enough time for this. You have to build your technical profile that stand out above and beyond your current college (if u say so).

(a) Projects, papers, science competitions ... can not only help you develop greater technical skills ... but also be fun than cramming for exams.
(b) An MS or M.Tech in an IIT / IISc / REC puts in the right league to be considered based on back ground
(c) Look for summer internship opportunities in research / engineering companies

You may want to check your assumptions on getting into DRDO / ISRO as they conduct merit based selection exams and don't automatically disqualify u because u don't go to a "branded" college.
