MS Stanford Univeristy - but not from an IIT or IIM
I see IIt or IIM guys stealing the scene all the time.Maybe it a result of the myth of our society but honesly
even compnies like google have accepted this.I want to do my masters in stanford in Comp. Sc. but i am not from an IIT.I am equally proud of myself but the problem is that all good universities live on a reputatuion.I do not have the finances neither do i have an international degree....i tried being an intern for Google but was thrown out saying they hire only from some reputed colleges. Now i want to do my stanford edu but cannot afford it....now do i not have an equal mind as an IITian.why this biased treatment? What can i do to go to stanford..?

Hi Ranjan, However, the fact is that "NOT every IITian" gets into Stanford. What Stanford looks for is not only your university, but also what has been your grades, how your professors evaluate you and how much work have you done during your undergraduate studies. Hence, take a few projects, have a year long RA positions in IISc, TIFR or IITs and then go for applying to Stanford. You may also want to apply to a few more universities which are as good as Stanford. Best of luck for your career. 2 years 22 weeks ago |

Hi Ranjan, Life is 50% luck
Hi Ranjan,
Life is 50% luck and 50 % hard work. I think the best way to go about it is that you should appear for GATE, complete your Masters from some IIT, TIFR or IISc. Then you would have a background of a reputed university and you would be able to come to Stanford for your PhD.
