The urge to create something innovative and challenging underline Nipun's activities. As a first year student in IIT Bombay, he was a part of the team which participated and won the National Robocon Competition and went on to represent India at the international level. During his research internship at EPFL, Switzerland, he worked on improving the performance on sensor for micro-robots.
The suggestions given by his startup team have been included in RBI's (Reserve Bank of India) Operating Guidelines for Mobile Banking. He is currently pursuing research along with Audio Research Group of Nokia for developing an algorithm for spatializing stereo audio. He is also working on an idea for transforming the mobile phones into devices which understand their user and personalize the information provided to them.
As a mentor in UMIC, he guided teams with various innovative ideas including one for a problem posed by a major from the Indian army. He has also been an institute student mentor for a year and is currently the Department Student Mentor. He has also been a guest speaker at various workshops on Robotics and Career Guidance sessions.
His other passions include chatting & debating with people, music and reading fiction and mysteries.
