Mentor Profile

Expertise Details:

Anne-Marie was the only student from Swarthmore College accepted in the inaugural HBS 2+2 class, and coming from a Liberal Arts background with work experience in many sectors, she is well-versed in how to highlight a set of unique and varied skills to portray a cohesive picture of an applicant. She is also a writing counselor at Swarthmore and has experience as an interviewer.

Short Profile :

Anne-Marie is an Honors Double Major in Computer Science and Linguistics, and during her undergraduate career published original research in the field of Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval. She has also worked to develop software in Computational Linguistics and Artificial Intelligence. Anne-Marie has also found the time to learn Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, and is working on her Cantonese. In the past four years, she has studied in Beijing and Mexico, and has worked in Hong Kong as well as the US.

While not hitting the books, she has taken the lead in a number of roles on campus, including coordinating an after-school tutoring program in an urban school district, designing, funding, and teaching a computer skills class for seniors at a nearby community center, and acting as a writing mentor for other undergraduates. She also sits on a number of Board advisory committees on Social Responsibility and student impact on the budget.

In her spare time, Anne-Marie loves to run, eat, drink tea, and travel. She has competed in triathlons and recently became SCUBA certified. For two years Anne-Marie will be teaching math in LA as a member of the Teach for America corps before going to Harvard Business School.

Preferred Timing:

Ideal Mentee:
I'd love to speak with Mentees looking for help with the introspective parts of applications - what have you done and how do you highlight it - in particular the writing and interview portions. Also happy to speak with younger Mentees about how to make the most out of internship/travel/study abroad opportunities or how to run community programs.
