To make life easier for students aspiring to get admitted to premium management and tech institutes, a bunch of graduates from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi has created a website, www.mentorpolis.com, which will provide the aspirants with important tips on different things.
The four-month-old web portal has around thousand registered users at present. From how to crack competitive exams like AIEEE, GMAT to what kind of questions one can expect in an interview, the portal offers personalised advice to the students.
There are over 70 mentors from reputed business schools and premium management institutes like IIT, IIM, Harvard, Oxford, MIT and Stanford.
Around 10 mentors are from Bangalore zone itself. Some of the services offered by Mentorpolis are entrepreneurship guidance, professional guidance, resume editing, academic guidance etc.
The four former students of IIT-Delhi — Avijit Sharma, Anshul Agrawal, Pratik Agarwal, Anshuman Chaudhary — had come up with this idea to share experiences with their juniors as well as the other aspirants.
Avijit Sharma, who had given up his job and is one of the co-founders of Mentorpolis ,said, “When I was a student at IIT-Delhi, my seniors had guided me on important issues . This helped me perform better. That inspired me to set up a website to help young students.”
The website started functioning from May.
The founders claim that the website is becoming increasingly popular, especially among students of Southern cities like Bangalore.
Harshad Lasure, an alumnus of IIM- Bangalore and a mentor with Mentopolis, said, “There are not many formal web portals which provide credible information and academic assistance to students. Even though there are discussions in social networking sites, a person is not sure about the identity of users. This is an opportunity to share information in a public forum.”
